The Vamp, slang from the word "vampire", is a woman who uses her charm and beauty to seduce men and lead them to their ruin. Vamps are associated with vampires and other undead creatures, and part of the look's appeal is rooted in the human fascination with death. Today's Vamp are often known as Goths, probably due to gothic literature's emphasis on ghoulish stories, but the vamp persona has been around since ancient times.
